Our exchange destination is is Uruguay's largest and most prestigious public university, Universidad de la Rebública, Udelar. It is located in Montevideo. With its vibrant campus life, rich history, and focus on innovation, Udelar serves as an excellent destination for students seeking a comprehensive and engaging academic experience in Uruguay.

Who can apply?

  • Students of all faculties
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s students
  • Students with Spanish skills at least on level B1

What can you study here?

  • Information on courses
  • Only undergraduate (Bachelor’s level) courses are available for exchange students. Master’s students can also participate in undergraduate courses if the courses can be recognised for their degree.
  • You should select all your courses from one campus and one Faculty/School.

How many credits do you need to complete?

Minimum 40 local credits per term.
1 Udelar credit = 0.5 ECTS.

Housing, costs and fees

Udelar does not have student residences. The international office can share a list of options offered upon request.

Cost information is not offered by Udelar, but based on student feedback, the price level is fairly close to Finland, even if there are differences (e.g. food and transportation are less expensive in Uruguay).

Other important matters

Academic year starts in February-March. If you want to apply for an academic year, notice that the exchange period is February-March - December. 

Maximum of two students can be selected to one Udelar faculty per semester.
